Position: Dietitian
What is a day like at AHD in your position?
I am frequently monitoring patients’ labs and collaborating with the nurses and doctors for any medication changes. I contact the patients to review their labs and address any nutritional concerns. I am also currently taking various courses in nutrition to maintain my expertise and expand my knowledge to continue to provide the most current nutrition education and support to our patients.

University of Houston B.S. Human Nutrition and Foods and Dietetic Internship program Certifications on Obesity Management through ADA and Motivational Interviewing
Work Experience:
I have been a renal dietitian for 14 years.
What is your favorite part about working in your field or current position?
I love educating the patients on nutrition and supporting them on achieving their health goals.
Why did you want to work for AHD?
I wanted to be part of a great team that is truly patient centered. Each health care member works together to make sure we are providing the best care for the patient and that patient feels involved in their own care.
What is a moment or accomplishment in your career that you are most proud of?
I believe that my most proudest moments have been when I have truly built a relationship with my patients. When the patients can feel that I am truly there to support them on their health journey and not just focusing on their lab ranges. For example, seeing a patient that was struggling with their diet or compliance and then seeing them achieve their health goals is truly an accomplishment for both the patient and myself.
What do you like to do outside of the office?
I like to go to Zumba classes and baking. Currently getting into soap making and making my own skincare products.
If you want to share anything about your personal life such as marriage, children, pets, hobbies:
I have an adorable maltipoo named Diazie. Before the pandemic, I enjoyed traveling internationally. Besides sightseeing, I enjoyed immersing myself in the culture, people watching and trying their food. After Mexican food, I would have to say my favorite food that I have tried in visiting multiple countries has been from Turkey and Israel.
